The PHRplus Project aims to strengthen the performance of health systems in delivering priority services that address child, maternal and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. PHRplus works across the full range of health systems strengthening areas including policy, financing, quality of care, and information systems.
Twelve themes are presented here. The first four focus on particular health systems strengthening themes including community-based health insurance, decentralization, hospital strengthening, and structuring health care systems to promote accountability and quality of care. The next three present the health systems strengthening work that PHRplus is undertaking with respect to HIV/AIDS, infectious disease surveillance, and maternal and child health. And lastly, tools, methods, and new ways of working, including National Health Accounts, approaches to monitoring and evaluation, and global alliances are presented.
